@fadornelas what’s wrong with running it on windows? four tet uses a pc to run ableton live and i’m pretty sure he does fine. my question was to do with internet connections not operating systems.

fadornelas June 9, 2010 at 5:31 pm

@skiersexcuse I don’t know, but why would you be running Ableton Live on a Windows PC?

Hey Very nice video this one! I really love my Ipad, can’t stop using it! I only don’t like the expensive books and video downloads in the apple store. I don’t know if you have heard of myPadMedia? If you sign up there you get unlimited acces to downloads for the Ipad! A friend of mine wrote a review on it check it out: mypadmediareviews {dot} com

can you do this for pc’s?

sk8dork June 9, 2010 at 7:25 pm

guess you guys haven’t heard of adhoc wireless networks. you create the wireless network on the macbook and then connect the ipad/iphone to it

hallospceboy June 9, 2010 at 8:10 pm

@skiersexcuse i know for macs you can “create a network” it doesnt give off internet (unless you are directly plugged in through ethernet) but you can connect your ipad/ipod/iphone to it for midi connection. iTM MidiLab does some of the same thing as the touchosc but its a free way to try it out

skiersexcuse June 9, 2010 at 8:15 pm

how will you use this at gigs if there is no wifi connectivity at a gig venue? do you reckon there will ever be midi bluetooth support or a cable to lower the latency?

djlawnboy June 9, 2010 at 8:45 pm

thats only work with wifi isnit?

Kitsua June 9, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Great demo. How come no high def though?

robbadobdob June 9, 2010 at 10:03 pm

what would be perfect would be if you could screen share through your ipad with your laptop. That would be the ultimate midi-controller.

digitallush June 9, 2010 at 10:39 pm

like.

How is the lagging and latency with the wireless signal from ableton to the Ipad?

jayrellz June 9, 2010 at 11:17 pm

ipad as a midi controller for anything would be cool.

ghostsciencemusic June 9, 2010 at 11:28 pm

@ pimpomat where is your video then?….hater..

pimpomat June 10, 2010 at 12:14 am

nothing new..its like the program on ipod touch!! its exactly the same and over 1/2 year old

AppA June 10, 2010 at 12:35 am

This is what I expected that would happen and it’s only great, but it still this doesn’t convince me to buy an iPad. Although its followers/adversaries may become another story, preferably one with Android running so you could do some crazy open code stuff on it.

So far the latency is imho not great but certainly comes very close to that of Lemur. Let’s hope one day that an interface will rise which will have near 0 latency, and somehow will give you tactile feedback, now that would be awesome!

Antonink June 10, 2010 at 2:28 am
